Tadao Ando almost never starts sketching during the first months after receiving a contract. He tries to concentrate on articulating the surrounding context and to put his imaginations into high tensions. He waits until the mature moment, waits until the "concept" gradually develops naturally.
Children's Museum in HyogoIn the case of the Children's Museum in Hyogo, he spent long hours at the site, waiting for the moment when his intuition awakens and opens up to the sites, until the solution comes out itself, unconsciously. Ando believes that feeling, intuitions, reacting emotionally are the primal conditions of the architect.
